I am a doctoral student doing my disseration and part of my study is I have developed a curriculum ranging from grade levels 1st -5th focusing on reading passages and language arts activities that are culturally responsive for African American students. I want to put this curriculum into a software and see if by using a culture based software students will be more motivated to read than by using traditonal reading instruction.

I want the students to be able to read the passages and then answer the questions about the passage. If the students get the answer correct give some type of positive re-enforcement, if the student gets it wrong still give them a positive re-enforcement maybe by saying something like good try but the answer is.... I want it to be very color full and easily interactive. The students that will be using the software are in special education and have reading related Learning Disabilities. Some of the activities I want to add music, voice prompts if possible and/or animation however animation is not manditory. I want it to almost be like a game. I want the students to have fun with the software.
